- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil or butter
For the Broccoli

- 1 lime
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce (or soy sauce)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
This crispy and spicy walleye with juicy broccoli is a quick, easy, and healthy meal that’s perfect for a weeknight dinner!
The reason the broccoli is “juicy” is that it sits in a marinade after it gets cooked. The florets soak up the marinade, creating a super juicy and flavourful version of steamed broccoli!
Directions
Step 1 - Fish
- Mix the cornstarch, flour, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt on a plate.
- Melt the oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Toss the fish in the flour mixture until well-coated, then add to the skillet.
- Cook, flipping once, for about 5 minutes, or until the fish is crispy on the outside and flakes easily when pressed with a fork.
- Set onto paper towels to soak up any excess oil.
Step 2 - Broccoli
- Meanwhile, bring a pot with a steamer attachment to a boil. Add the broccoli to the steamer and steam for 7 minutes.
- While the broccoli is cooking, juice the lime into a medium bowl. Add the brown sugar, fish sauce (or soy), and minced garlic. Mix well.
- Once the broccoli has cooked, add it to the sauce and toss well. The broccoli can sit in the sauce for however long it takes to get the rest of dinner prepared.
- Serve the fish and broccoli with a salad, or with grains like rice or quinoa. Enjoy!
